In-Home Newborn Session with Big Sister, Family, Dog, and Grandmas | River Oaks NEWBORN PHOTOGRAPHER

In-home newborn sessions allow for such an intimate experience with the families I service. Hi! If you don’t know me, I’m a Kingwood, Texas and Houston are newborn and maternity photographer. All of my newborn sessions are in-home! That means, you never have to pack up your new baby and go to a studio! I get a glimpse of how my clients live, witness the incredible dynamics within the family units, and watch as these parents adjust beautifully to their new lives with their newborns. It never ceases to amaze me how involved and supportive new dads can be. I feel like it’s a different age, a new era. These dads are so involved in raising and caring for their children and I believe their role is having a powerful impact on our future generations. Kudos to you, dads! You are making our world a better place! This dad was exceptionally involved in raising his daughters and his presence allowed mom space to be an incredible, working mom, able to do it all because of the support she has from her husband. It was a beautiful thing to witness!

Mom is a professional and beautifully decorated her new daughter’s nursery in a palette of soft neutrals with hints of green and lavender. I shop for new items for each session to custom-tailor every newborn session according to the family’s preferences. I love to shoot with monochromatic colors and choose my backdrops, wraps, bonnets, and headbands to match perfectly for each setup. Mom loved the “mugshots” setup that I photograph with each newborn session so we made sure to make use of baby’s awake time to capture those expressions.

The couple also had a 17-month-old daughter, who was the star of the show besides their beloved dog. Photographing toddlers is more of a marathon than a sprint. I like to catch them when they are not tired or hungry so we make sure that they have plenty of snacks on hand and we do not photograph them just before naptime. We began photographing the two grandmas with their granddaughters before we moved into the immediate family poses. The grandmas were so helpful with those photographs! Then, we focused on just the girls with their family dog for the most incredible and timeless portrait! After our family photos, the parents put the toddler to bed for her much needed nap! It’s a big day for a little one!

This newborn was an absolute dream! Mom did a fantastic job of having pumped milk ready for when her baby needed a feeding and it kept the baby full and content. She was so easy to pose and naturally placed her hands under her chin, ready for her shot. Mom said she loved to lay on her stomach and she was right because she was so cozy in each of the positions I posed her in. Mom and Dad did a great job heating up their home after our family shots, so the baby was nice and warm. It really makes for a successful session when parents follow my newborn session prep guide! We concluded our session and made plans for our ordering appointment.
